The Joint Commemoration: Together in Hope

Pope Francis will visit Malmö Arena on the 31st of October to mark the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation. TICKETS: You will be able to buy tickets for the event once you get here on the 31st of October, right outside of the arena at Hyllie Stationstorg. There will be a limited amount of tickets and it will be cash only.

The commemoration, structured around the themes of thanksgiving, repentance and commitment to common witness, will also celebrate the fruits of 50 years of Catholic-Lutheran dialogue.

There will also be preformances during the day. The artists Malena Ernman, Cirkus Cirkör, Samuel Ljungblahd and Sandro Cavazza, togehter with about 15 different choirs. 

The prayer service in Lund cathedral will be led by Pope Francis, LWF President Bishop Munib Younan and LWF General Secretary Rev. Martin Junge, based on a shared liturgical guide and the joint report entitled ‘From Conflict to Communion’. The event in Malmö Arena will showcase the common witness of the LWF’s World Service and Caritas Internationalis, including their work to care for refugees, peacebuilding, and advocacy for climate justice.

Tickets cost 100 Skr (10 Euro) each and the entire proceeds of the ticket sale (including ticketmasters service charge) will go to projects of The Lutheran World Federation and Caritas Internationalis with Syrian refugees in the Middle East. 

Important Information

  • The main entrance opens at 11 AM.
  • The event starts at 1:30 PM and finishes at around 6 PM. Be on time to prevent long queues. 
  • The pope will take the stage at 4:40 PM
  • Once Pope Francis has entered the arena, the entrances close and you will not be able to enter. We therefore recommend you to be here prior to 15:30.
  • Children has to be 5 years or older to participate. 
  • ID verification will take place upon entry. The name on the ticket must match with valid identification. If you have bought 2 tickets, the other person must enter together with the person who's name is on the tickets.
  • Printed e-ticket or e-ticket in a smartphone are displayed on entry.
  • Changing the name on reservation/ticketing is not possible.
  • You will be able to buy tickets on the square outside the arena, Hyllie Stationstorg, right before you enter the restricted area. This service opens at 11:30 and it is cash only. There is a limited amount of tickets for sale. 
  • All visitors will pass a security checkpoint. Luggage,bags and umbrellas are not allowed in the arena. Handbags with a maximum size of 12x24x32 cm is allowed, but will be x-rayed before entrance.
  • If you have luggage or larger bags, you can turn those in at our luggage service center at Arenagatan 8A. Opening hours 10 AM-8 PM. You have to show your ticket to the event to be able to leave your belongings. This service is outside of the restricted area, so you have to turn it in before you enter. 
  • Professional kameras and recording devices, as well as selfie sticks are not allowed. Your phone or smaller cameras are OK. 
  • You can't bring food and drinks in to the arena.
  • We have a limited amount of cloakrooms, 20 kr/coat or jacket
