Europe Smash Sweden 2025
Malmo set to host pinnacle of table tennis!
The WTT Grand Smash Series makes its long-awaited debut in Europe, with Malmö, Sweden set to host the inaugural Europe Smash from 14 to 24 August 2025 at the iconic Malmö Arena. This marks a historic moment as WTT brings its Grand Smash Series to Europe for the first time, landing in a nation renowned for its iconic table tennis legends and rising stars.
With the rapid rise of table tennis in Europe, spurred by the Paris 2024 Olympics, the region has re-established itself as a vital hub for the sport’s growth and global appeal. The unveiling of Europe Smash not only celebrates this momentum but also honours Sweden's profound legacy in table tennis.
Now, a new wave of Swedish talent, led by stars like Truls Möregård, Anton Källberg and Linda Bergström, is reigniting the country’s passion for the sport on the global stage. Table tennis in Sweden is seeing a renaissance, highlighted by their two silver medal wins at the recent Olympic Games, making the arrival of an event of this calibre perfectly timed.
“Sweden is synonymous with table tennis greatness, and hosting Europe Smash in Malmö is a tribute to both the legends of the past and the rising stars of today,” said Steve Dainton, WTT Chief Executive Officer. “Europe Smash – Sweden 2025 completes our WTT Grand Smash lineup for 2025, bringing table tennis’ pinnacle events to four unique locations around the world. We can’t wait to see the world’s best players take to the stage in Malmö in August.”
For Swedish table tennis star Truls Moregard, the announcement carries personal significance: “Playing a WTT Grand Smash in Sweden is a dream come true,” Moregard shared. “Malmö Arena will be electric, and I’m excited to compete in front of our incredible fans. Events like Europe Smash are the platform we need to take the sport to new heights.”
As one of Scandinavia’s premier venues, Malmö Arena offers the perfect stage for Europe Smash 2025. With world-class facilities and a seating capacity of 15,000, the arena promises an unforgettable experience for players and fans alike.
