Timbuktu
On November 21, Timbuktu takes the stage at Malmö Arena for the biggest concert of his career.
On November 21, 2026, Jason “Timbuktu” Diakité takes over Malmö Arena for a historic homecoming to the Skåne soil where it all began. For the first time since 1996, Timbuktu will enjoy a calm summer completely free from touring. Instead, he gathers his audience for one single night — a concert where everyone comes together. Where all of Skåne fits!
Joined by the funk band Damn! and longtime collaborators DJ Large, Esta Kirabo, and Julimar Santos, along with special guests, he invites you to the biggest show of his career.
The idea began to take shape in 2025, when the 20th anniversary of the iconic album Alla vill till himmelen men ingen vill dö showed just how deeply Timbuktu’s music continues to resonate across generations. Two shows at Mosebacke in Stockholm sold out instantly, followed by four concerts at Mejeriet in Lund selling out within hours.
Alongside this momentum, another question emerged — equally humorous and provocative, ironic yet completely serious:
“Shouldn’t I have my own day? Timbuktu Day!” — Jason “Timbuktu” Diakité
“It might sound pretty unreasonable at first. But considering all the unreasonable things happening right now, I’d say this is one of the less unreasonable ones. The most logical place to start celebrating it is in Skåne. That’s where I’m from — and probably where the enthusiasm is greatest, or the resistance is strongest. So here’s my proposal: let’s celebrate the very first Timbuktu Day on November 21, 2026, at Malmö Arena. In a historic way.” — Jason “Timbuktu” Diakité
When Timbuktu steps onto the stage that night, the concert becomes more than just a performance. It marks the very first celebration of Timbuktu Day — a new occasion to gather, to celebrate. Where the music is played loud. And where the audience is more than just an audience.
They are the first generation to celebrate Timbuktu Day.
