Tomten är far till alla barnen
After sold out performances, roaring laughter, and acclaim from both critics and audiences during 2024/2025 at Cirkus in Stockholm, the stage hit Tomten är far till alla barnen is now returning to selected venues across Sweden.
TOMTEN ÄR FAR TILL ALLA BARNEN
When the beloved cult film from 1999 was brought to the stage for the first time in 2024, it created a brand new Swedish Christmas tradition. On stage, audiences followed the now legendary Christmas Eve when Sara invites her three ex-husbands and their new families to celebrate Christmas together with her reluctant partner Janne. What is meant to be an idyllic family holiday quickly turns into explosive chaos, as old relationships, secrets, and conflicts erupt in front of the Christmas tree.
Director Rikard Bergqvist transformed the film’s cult classic story into a stage production filled with high energy, physical comedy, musical elements, and a cast of the highest caliber. Critics described the result as a fast paced comedy feast, where the audience’s initial hesitation was quickly replaced by thunderous laughter.
The Stockholm premiere in November 2024 marked the beginning of a major audience success. The production played to full houses, was praised by the evening press, and continued to grow in popularity throughout 2025 – when it was also awarded “Stage Production of the Year” at the Swedish Comedy Awards.
This hysterically funny, lovingly chaotic, and utterly unpredictable Christmas Eve returns in 2026 with some of Sweden’s most beloved actors. Featuring Liv Mjönäs, Linus Wahlgren, Eva Röse, Jakob Setterberg, Fredrik Hallgren, Clara Henry, Magnus Betnér, Julia Dufvenius, Inez Dahl Torhaug, and Anton Lundqvist. Together, they create a Christmas production where doors slam, secrets are revealed, and laughter is never far away.
Because one thing is certain:
No one celebrates Christmas like the family in Tomten är far till alla barnen.
